Mr. Allan Percy Smith was born, August 6, 1951 in Canton, Mississippi to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Farres and Dorothy (nee)Smith-Smith. Allan grew up in the community of Ofahoma, Mississippi located in Leake County. He worked on the family farm plowing and picking cotton but mostly enjoyed playing sports such as basketball and baseball in his spare time. He attended the O.E. Jordan High and Thomas Town High Schools, graduating in 1970. Subsequently he moved to Detroit, Michigan to work at the Cadillac Division of General Motors Corporation. There he graduated from Oakland University with a degree in Photography.

He was united in Holy Matrimony with the late Shirley Malone Smith and pursued his dream of opening a photography studio, The AM Renaissance Photography. Allan originally established AM Renaissance Photography in Detroit, Michigan in May 1980. With much hard work, he expanded to Toledo, Ohio in 1985 and in 1990, AM Renaissance decided to relocate to the Historic Old West End.

Mr. Allan Percy Smith, passed away, December 7, 2016 at the ProMedica Ebeid Hospice Residence. He is survived by daughter, Whitnee Smith and friend, Jeffrey Kane; brothers, Hulon "Pro Dog" (Durema) Smith of Waynesville, Missouri and Dale (Gloria "Cookie") Smith of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; sisters, Phyllis (Robert) Branson of Canton, Mississippi and Elaine Thomas of Jackson, Mississippi; stepsisters, Margaret (John) Smith, Mildred Johnson and Phyllis Marshall Christopher of Carthage, Mississippi; aunts, Annie Greenwood and Hazel DeNeal both of Detroit, Michigan; special friends, Lyndia Sanyika, Roxanne "Roxi" Smith-Kane and a host of other loving relatives and kind friends.

Allan was a faithful Christian and loved people. He had a special talent for bringing out the best smile and features in people and will fondly be remembered as "The Picture Man."
