Mr. Melvin Jerome Aldridge was born, October 5, 1945 in Vanndale, Arkansas to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Mangle and Willie Grider-Aldridge. Both preceded him in death as did siblings, Cecil, Sr., Mangle, Jr., Jacqueline and Sharon.

He departed his earthly home at the Heavenly appointed hour of 12:45 a.m. Sunday, May 7, 2017, in the presence of his loving family with the Lord and Savior as his witness, at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo.

Melvin attended Wynne Public Schools and was a 1964 graduate of the Wynne High School. Melvin enjoyed his high school years as one of the star players of his basketball team. Following high school, He spent two years in the United States Army, mostly in Germany. After his tour of duty, he moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he lived about two years. In 1970, Melvin moved to Toledo, Ohio to join his sister, Margaret and later in that same year he was employed by the Toledo Edison Company, where he retired after, twenty five years. Melvin spent the last eleven years of his retirement employed by Allied Barton Security.

He was a die-hard University of Michigan, loved the Los Angeles Lakers and spent hours watching either golf or tennis. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Melvin was quite a chef, he loved cooking for family and friends. Everyone loved his pound cakes.
